Director's Message

Your Library Director Welcomes You

Greetings from the Real County Public Library. I am excited about the upcoming Friends of the Library 2024 Gala and anticipate a festive evening.  It’s no secret. We have a lot to look forward to this year!

Library staff continue to select notable novels from the New York Times Best Sellers List for adults and young adults, as well as highly-rated and award-winning children’s literature.  New books are delivered daily and we certainly hope you will stop in to check out the most recent arrivals.

With Spring Break right around the corner, we want you to know about library plans that may be of interest to you and children near and dear to you. During March 11—15, 2024, our staff will offer an afternoon movie with a snack on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  On Tuesday and Thursday, staff members will provide a children’s story with an activity or craft. Gathering times will be posted soon on both the RCPL website and library entrance. We hope to see many young smiling faces at our door!

April is Family Place month. Every Wednesday morning, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., we will present our Family Place Program for children 6 months through 4 years old, including their parents and grandparents.  This program is designed to help young parents interact with their preschoolers through play.  Please call the library today and sign up to participate.

In June, the library will launch a nature-based learning initiative for children called REAL RIVER RANGERS. Our goal is to advance literacy, learning and imagination through nature education. REAL RIVER RANGERS will provide an avenue to further promote students’ discovery and understanding of the natural world around us and will be available to elementary through middle-school-age students.  More information will follow on how to pre-register for this exciting library event currently scheduled for the months of June and July.

Thanks, as always, to the many patrons, volunteers, staff and friends of the Real County Public Library.  The library is testament to a true community effort.  I encourage each of you to come by for a visit and check out a book today.  Happy reading!
